T he 105th Annual NMBA Convention was a great success. A special thank you to all who attended the event which was held at Sandia Resort and Hotel. This year’s theme was the Main Event-Building Champions. The meeting opened with a meet and greet with former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm. Holly, an Albuquerque native, is the first person to win championships in both boxing and mixed martial arts. During the event, she entertained with stories about her early boxing career and a blow-by- blow description of her championship fight and victory over Ronda Rousey. From my viewpoint, Holly is a first class individual, humble and a great ambassador for New Mexico. In fact, Holly recently received the award for “Best Upset” at the 2016 ESPY Awards for her victory over Rousey. 105th Annual Convention
