O V E R A C E N T U R Y : B U I L D I N G B E T T E R B A N K S - H E L P I N G N E W M E X I C O R E A L I Z E D R E A M S 22 BANK NEWS Western Heritage Bank, Las Cruces, Acquires El Paso Branch Western Heritage Bank, Las Cruces, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Plains Capital Bank, Dallas, TX, for the purchase of approximately $25 million in loans and $24 million in deposit accounts. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2017. “It’s good to be home again. We are thrilled about the upcoming expansion of Western Heritage Bank into the El Paso market. This affords our business the ability to connect with a community that we know well,” said Jim Volk, Western Heritage Bank chairman of the board of directors. “Our shareholders have a presence in El Paso, and we are familiar with its unique business environment.” Volk has more than 45 years of banking experience, most of it in El Paso. He retired from banking in 2011 and currently serves as EVP/COO of Odessa-based Ace Specialties Inc., an equipment supplier to the energy and construction industries. The El Paso location will focus on commercial loans- CRE and equipment. Western Heritage reported assets of $85 million, including $38 million in loans at the end of April. n CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER Citizens Bank of Farmington is seeking a Chief Operations Officer with a Bachelor’s Degree or 15+ years of equivalent experience. This position directs the organizations operational procedures, objectives and initiatives and is responsible for the management of all operation activities. Candidate must be familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices and procedures and possess strong managerial skills to be able to lead and direct the work of others to accomplish goals. Candidate must have well developed written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, along with self-starting attributes and is able to function in a senior level role which provides latitude for individual initiative and creativity.
