Upon assuming the role of president of the association, my predecessors had shared their experiences of the annual statewide journey undertaken before each legislative session. Initially, their descriptions left me uncertain about what to expect from this tradition. However, having completed the journey, I can now affirm its value and wish to share my insights.

One of the more controversial and contentious legislative issues addressed by various state legislatures in 2023 concerned ESG-related legislation. But what actually is ESG? It stands for environmental, social and governmental. It is a concept used by investors in capital markets to measure the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a company.
